Disneyland plus fabric!

We're back from Disneyland -- marvelous days in spite of a bit of cold, rainy weather -- little to no line-ups. Had a great time with brother, sister-in-law and nephew. The kids are the same age so it was good for them to have the Magic Kingdom experience together. My favorite part? All of it! Time with family, a vacation, the wonder of Disneyland and then...

... the extra bonus ....getting to the Los Angeles Fabric district. We followed this helpful article. SIL and I got an hour and a half (whilst the men and kids wandered - ironically having a great time at the flower market.) There is literally one fabric store after another. My SIL took these photos of me -- ever so happy at Silk City (305 E 9th Street, #120) Incredible fabric, incredible prices. We finished off our time at Fabric Hotel which had beautiful quality quilting cottons -- between $4 to 6 per yard (I'm not too sure why their website prices are more) For $67 US, I purchased 2 yards silk chiffon, 2 yds silk velvet, 2 yds lining, 5 yds good quality cotton knit, 1 yd cotton and some lace and trim. I was trying to be careful to not purchase too much with the exchange rate so high but I think I may have got too little of the silk chiffon for scarves I'd like to make. However -- I do have Silk City's telephone number! Also, in an earlier post, I'd muttered about the cost of US shipping but the gentleman at Fabric Hotel said he's able to get 8 yards of cotton fabric into a mailing envelope to send to Canada and the cost is $10 US for shipping. Would make sense that an envelope would be cheaper to ship than a box.

Wow!! Disneyland and a fabric store...or should I say warehouse!! I tend to get intimidated when I go into a store that much fabric, it probably would not be bad if I had a list of what I wanted and how much I needed. M.J. gave a presentation and she mentioned me as inspiration.....I hate to ask....was it for good or bad inspiration.....I do get crazy when I get involved with things......
