One ruffle....seven ruffles

Obviously my daughter and I like ruffles. Thanks to Cousin Joan in Toronto, I was able to find the bright orange fabric for J's bathing suit when we went shopping on Queen Street in May. It's yellow, pink and orange strips. Joan said I had a big grin on my face when I found the fabric. Maybe it's because I thought J would like it and she did. She was ever so excited Monday morning to wake up and find the new suit lying outside her room door.
The dress was in the June Burda magazine. The skirt is made with a polyester satiny fabric I found along Queen street a year ago and the top part is from cotton jersey that SIL Nancy and I found in Los Angeles in February. Amazingly, they matched. The only problem was the cotton jersey seems a bit too casual for the satiny skirt fabric. So while we're on vacation, I'm hoping to find a knit fabric that will complement the skirt better. In the meantime, I did wear the dress when I presided at a funeral on Tuesday. The service was for a great lady who loved pink -- so I thought, the heck with dark fabrics and reached for this in my closet.
